Unix Administrator- 35K- 40K plus fantastic benefits- West Midlands Senior UNIX Systems Administrator A vacancy has arisen within IT for a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator. Based in the UK but focussed at a Global level, the successful candidate will be able to manage, administer and maintain the Unix server farm located primarily in the UK and Switzerland. Key areas of responsibility for this role will include: - and#x2022;Installation, Configuration, Support and administration of UNIX Server farm, operating system and associated tools, at both local and global level and#x2022;Provision of 2nd and 3rd line support to the Application and Workplace Service lines and#x2022;IT security aspects related to clients, servers and stand-alone units and#x2022;Implementation, licensing, version management of commercial software and#x2022;Routine housekeeping and reporting to ensure the smooth running of the Datacentres The successful applicant will have a proven track record in a similar role at Senior Level in a Global Organisation. They should ideally be qualified to degree level and be an excellent technical problem solver embracing a wide range of technologies, both self motivating and team oriented, be able to work under pressure and be willing to work outside of normal hours at short notice. Strong experience of UNIX flavours (Solaris, RHEL, AIX) is required and#x2013; additional skills in Networking, documentation and Security best practice are desirable, and exposure to SAN technologies and ITIL best practice would be advantageous.
