Our client is currently recruiting for a Java Architect to be based in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. The main purpose of this role is to work on the high level and detailed application deign for internal and external project and to provide product architecture and technical expertise to the client and to the team throughout the product lifecycle from pre-sales to live support. The main duties will include to define the application architecture; to ensure that requirements for application functionality, security and performance are met by the application; to understand the relationship of the application to other technologies in use, for example, application server, caching, object relation mapping, caching and database and ensure appropriate allocation of functionality to these components; to maintain application design standards; to understand the current developments in java and related technologies. The successful candidate will have proven experience working i n a Java architect position, experience of Java; strong knowledge of UNIX, Application Server, Database and XML; a working knowledge of system integration products for example MQ Series, TIBCO, JMS compliant queues. The successful candidate will have experience working within a financial services / payments environment. You will need to have proven experience across Credit Transfers, Direct Debits and one or more payments systems (e.g. BACS, SWIFT, VISA, Faster Payments).
